Celebrate the Holidays in Downtown Lancaster

Spend the holidays in the historic Downtown Lancaster. Bustling with holiday cheer and activities, there is something everyone will love! Check out some of these holiday events happening right here in Downtown Lancaster this season.

Kick off the holiday season with the Mayor’s Tree Lighting in Penn Square on Friday, November 27! Watch the tree light up the square while carolers, and the notable “Tuba Christmas” perform holiday favorites. Grab a bite to eat and shop local at Central Market during their hours through the event. The festivities begin at 5:00 p.m.

Spend a Friday night riding through Downtown Lancaster in a horse-drawn carriage. Beginning on November 26, horse-drawn carriages rides will be available on Fridays through December 20. Bundle up and experience the city from a different perspective. Rides are offered from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Take a step back in time with 1800s time period dancing at the Step Back in Time Christmas Ball. The event will include a live orchestra and dance instructor to teach a variety of ballroom dances (waltz, two-step, cha-cha) and modern dances (twist, limbo, line dances). Take pictures with vintage props and enjoy time period snacks, cheeses, coffee and refreshments, as well as multiple cash bars. The Ball will be held at the Lancaster Convention Center in Downtown Lancaster on December 9, 7:00-12:00 p.m. Find more details online.

The Fulton Theater gets in the spirit with a variety of performances during the holiday season. Choose from the family favorite ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, or the mainstage production Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Both performances run until the end of December. Ring in the New Year in Downtown Lancaster at Binns Park. Countdown to midnight as the Red Rose is lowered and enjoy a free concert and fireworks at midnight!
